June 2004'Not That Kind' and 'How I Feel About You', from the on-going project 'Black Day', were entered into competition on BBC Radio 2 for a program called 'Sold On Song'. The competition entitled anyone with an original song to enter. There were 10,500 entries and the winner was announced in September 2004. The guys had forgotten about the competition until, in January 2005, Darren received a phone call from Richard Rogers who was one of the judges and is a top A&R guy in the music industry working for all the major record labels including Warner Bros and EMI. 'Not That Kind' had been selected as one of the top twenty entries from the original 10,500!! Richard Rogers requested more tracks for him to listen to. Subsequently, Darren signed a publishing contract for 'Not That Kind' with NCompass Publishing and he and Pete still have another four tracks pending. |
